Girls' Day 2026: Science Meets Adventure

04/28/2026 New

Once again this year, Girls' Day at the Erwin L. Hahn Institute was all about science, teamwork and lots of fun! On 23 April, eight young girls aged between 13 and 16 had the opportunity to get to know the ELH in a very special way: through an exciting escape room that took them on a journey through the institute!

After a brief introduction to the fascinating world of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the participants put their creativity and inquiring minds to the test. To crack the coordinates for a combination lock and complete the escape room mission, they had to explore various rooms and stations within the institute. Along the way, the girls were allowed to try out equipment themselves, had to solve simple equations and, at the end, even perform a scan on the 7-Tesla MRI themselves.

The event demonstrated in a fun way just how exciting and varied work in a research institute can be, and that physics doesn’t have to be boring.

We would like to thank all the girls for their curiosity and enthusiasm, and our colleagues for organising this fantastic programme, and we are already looking forward to Girls’ Day 2027!
